Farewell sweet Sheldon

The mom here today, or more rightly, the old mom bean as Sheldon would have said.

Sheldon is my daughter's middle cat (Stanley and Spencer are the other two). He was born in mid-March 2017, just a few weeks after our sticky bean, Eli was born. Sheldon came to live with us in mid-2017 and stayed until D and Eli moved about 15 months later. 

When he arrived, he was a wee kitten. The other three cats had quite different reactions to him. Saku was initially afraid of him, Sami hated him, and Sasha, as he had with the other kittens who arrived, patiently put up with him. In time, both Saku and Sami tolerated and would even play with him, but Sheldon always adored Sasha the most.

This is one of my favorite photos of the two boys. It's almost as though Sheldon was saying, "I'm the baby, gotta love me."

There were several good tussles between Saku and Sheldon, and sweet moments too, when the pair slept on the couch together...even touching!

Sheldon loved to crawl under the covers on the bed for a nap. I visited last week, and he slept under the covers beside me at least one of the nights. 

When D and Eli moved, Sheldon went with them. He getting to be a big boy by then, and got even bigger still. The vet told her today that she believes Sheldon had some Maine Coon in him as he was a large cat, but not overweight. 

Every morning, after breakfast he started his day with a tussle with his big brother Stanley. After D dropped Sheldon off at school, she'd come home and Sheldon would remind her it was time for a nap. The two would curl up on her bed for a hour.  When she showered, he'd wait in the bathroom for her. 

But his favorite place to sleep during the day was on Eli's big boy bed. I took this photo just two weeks ago. I think I woke him.

Today, D messaged me to say Sheldon had thrown up last evening and several times through the night. She had isolated him and put in the bedroom with a bowl of water and a litter box, hoping he'd pass whatever was bothering him. But he deteriorated through the night and even more so this morning before she could get him into the vet. She sent a video and he was clearly in much discomfort and crying, though he did stick close to D and followed her down the stairs. 

While the vet didn't do a thorough exam, she did check him out and agreed he was in distress. She thought there might have been a blockage or perhaps a mass that had shifted or increased in size. Not wanting to put Sheldon through more pain, they decided to let him go. D said his passing was peaceful, she was petting and talking to him and he was gone before she realized it. 

Sheldon will be missed. He was, as D said, "the best boy".

Meet Lady Spencer!

 Hi effurybody, Saku here today. 

My mom bean dared to leave me alone* for elebenty seven days this week to go visit the not-so-sticky bean and his mom. While she was there she got to meet the new kitty. Boy, oh boy, am I glad she doesn't live here!

Lady Spencer** was found outside of the house when it was furry cold. Her mom bean fed her for a couple of days before Spencer let her catch her and move her into the front porch. She had worms in her tummy and mites in her ears so had to go see the v e t for a check-up. She also got her spay done too. Once the antibiotics did their job, Spencer got to move into the main house and meet her new brofurs, Stanley and Sheldon.

Her mom bean said Lady Spencer is now bossing the boys around. I think they must be wimps...not girl kitty would efur boss me around. Oh wait, Sami used to do that to me too. 

My mom bean wasn't able to touch Spencer either, she's pretty skittish around people. But she does let her mom bean pick her up and will sleep on the bed with the not-so-sticky bean...but only if he is sleeping too. She would come downstairs when my mom bean was there but wouldn't come furry close.

She's a pretty kitty and no one knows why she was tossed out - she's about 9 months old. Purrhaps she went into heat and the beans didn't want her anymore. Her mom bean thinks she may have been abused too because she runs when someone starts walking towards her, and runs when things get noisy. But when all is quiet, Spencer loves to get pets and loves from her mom bean. She likes to be around her beans too, and has claimed one of the dining room chairs as her own so she can keep an eye on whats happening.

Spencer has discovered catnip and treats too. I think she's going to be furry happy in her new home. AND I'm happy she's not in mine.

*I was gone for less than 48 hours. Saku is such a needy boy. Besides my son was here and he even slept in my bed one night so Saku wouldn't be lonely.

**The not-so-sticky bean chose the name Spencer, my daughter added Lady as a nod to Princess Diana. She's about 9 months old (maybe 10 now).

We got a visit

 Hi efurrybody! It's Sheldon and Stanley here today. We just had a visit from the old mom bean. We sure like it when she shows up.

Stanley: Yep, 'cuz I get my coffee fix and...

Sheldon: We both gets stinky goodness!

Well, to be fair our mom bean gives us those too, just not as often as the old mom bean does.

Here we are on top of the deep freeze. The treat bag is in the cupboard up above us. Funny story, it has a hole in it....we has no idea how that happened, MOL...and when the old mom bean pulled it out of the cupboard it spilled a whole lots of treats for us. Did she let us pick them up...yes, she did. Yum!

Hi Jack blog

 Hi efurrybody, it's Sheldon here today with my brofur Stanley!

The old mom bean came to visit us last week. (and the sticky bean). She brought her 'puter and put it on our table.  Me and Stanley thought it was a great place to hang out. It was warm and she would give us lots of pats. She's a good old bean.

Sometimes I sat on her chair and sometimes she almost sat on me! But I'm a big boy now and she never squished me.  

We always like when she visits 'cuz she loves on us, and we love on her too. Then she reminds the other mom bean to brush us, 'cuz Stanley sheds like crazy. Me, not so much but I love the scritches from the brush too.

Hello from Sheldon

Hi efurrybody! The old mom bean came to visit one day 'cuz it was the sticky bean's birthday.  I was furry happy to see her, so was Stanley though he wouldn't cooperate with having his picture taken.  We got lots of extra scritches and pets...it was great!

But now that I see all the pictures she took of me, I'm not so happy with her! 

Does this chair make my bum look fat?  Here's how I feel about that!

Catching up with Stanley and Sheldon

Hi efurrybody, my name is Stanley and I live with the sticky bean and his mom bean.  The grandma bean came to visit, and I got some extra cuddles so when she asked if she could use the flashy box on me before she went away, I said okay.

And besides the cuddles, I got coffee too.  Now most of you would think kitties wouldn't like coffee but I do.  The grandma bean figures it is because I stayed with the sticky bean's dad and his friends for awhile after the sticky bean and his mom bean left and they weren't furry good at feeding me or giving me something to drink.  So I like to drink the coffee water and lick up coffee grounds whenever I can get them.  Now I just get it when the grandma bean or Dad bean comes to visit, and I eat good for me foods and fresh water efurry day.

Me and my brofur Sheldon like to tussle sometimes.  He's bigger than me, but I'm older so sometimes I win and sometimes he wins.  Sometimes the sticky bean yells at us, "that's enough" and we stop and run away. 

Sheldon sat still for the flashy box too...he just forgot to close his eyes when it flashed. MOL!

Getting along!

Hi efurrybody, Sheldon here!  The old mom bean came for to visit me and Stanley.  Oh, and she says the sticky bean and his mom too.

She stayed overnight and slept in the big boy bed that the sticky bean is supposed to sleep in, but he doesn't very often.  (He prefers to snuggle in with his mom).

Bet you can guess who sleeps on the bed!  Yep, me and Stanley!  We even sleep on it when the old mom bean is there.  

She opened the window just a little bit and we both wanted a chance to get some whiffies.  Aren't we good at sharing?

Speaking of being good, check out this picture of me and the sticky bean.

He's (finally) starting to learn to be nice.  Of course, if he wasn't I'd just up and run away and find somewhere out of his reach.  No one efur said I was dumb. MOL!

A visit with Sheldon

Hi efurrybody, Sheldon here today.

The old mom bean came to visit me the other day! I'm sure she'd say she came to see the sticky bean but we all know she really wanted to visit with me.

I'm not a big fan of that sticky bean.  Sometimes he tries to pick me up or pull my tail.  Stanley lets him do that but I sure don't!  

So when he finally went out to the front porch I seized my chance and had a cuddle with her. It may not look like it but I was purring in this picture.  It didn't last long though 'cuz that sticky bean loves his grandma.

A visit from the other S kitties!

Hi efurrybody, it's Stanley here today.  I live with the sticky bean with my brofur Sheldon.

Yep, I'm sitting on the table.  Sometimes I try to get away from the sticky bean...though he's a darn good climber!

Here's Sheldon too...I think he heard the sticky bean coming.  MOL!

I heard the birdies talking outside the window so I got up on the cupboard to see what they were doing.  

One more photo of Sheldon too.  He likes the sticky bean's new bed.  I think it's cuz the sticky bean would rather sleep with his mom, so Sheldon gets it to himself...unless the G'ma bean is sleeping in it.  Then he shares.

Cuddling with the grandkitties

Hi efurrybody, it's Stanley and Sheldon here today.

That's me, Stanley on the left on the grandma bean's lap and that's me, Sheldon on her legs.  She came out to visit us...she says she was there for the sticky bean but who is she kidding.

Sheldon slept with her efurry night and Stanley got his cuddles in efurry morning.  We think she enjoyed it as much as we did (she did!)

Who's she visiting?

Hi efurrybody, it's Sheldon here today!

The old mom bean came to visit me and Stanley this week.  She likes to say she's visiting the sticky bean and his mom, but I knows the truth!

We had lots of cuddles and I even slept with her all night both nights she was here.  She was furry happy though she did say I hogged most of the couch.  

And here's my brofur Stanley.  Even though he never lived with the old mom bean, he sure loves her too.  He likes to get right in her face and head butt her.  She sure appawciates all that cat furs. MOL!

The old mom bean came for a visit, though she sure didn't stay furry long.  We got in a few pats and Stanley sat on her lap for a little bit.  We like it better when she stays overnight so we can sleep on her.  MOL!

A visit from Sheldon

Hi efurrybody!  It's Sheldon here today.  

The old mom bean came for a visit to my new place.  You can tell I'm quite content here.  I've got lots of sunny places to hang out and nap, good foods, and a brofur to play with.  Even the sticky bean isn't that bad...though he sure loves to hug me.


Here's my brofur Stanley  He likes to sneak out the door when the beans aren't watching.  But he's a good kitty too because when the old mom bean calls here kitty kitty he stops and lets her bring him back inside.

I do like it when the old mom bean comes to visit and I always get in a good cuddle.  She's makes a great place to sleep at night because she's soft and warm.  Stanley loves her too and enjoys head butting her to get pats and scritches.

A Sheldon update

Hi efurrybody!  It's me Sheldon!

The old mom bean came out to visit the sticky bean.  While she was there I had a nice cuddle with her.  In fact, I slept with her on the couch the whole night!

Things are really good here for me. I've gotten furry big...maybe even bigger than Saku!  I have a sunny room to hang out with my other brofur Stanley too.  We like to have morning tussles and there are a great set of stairs we can run up and down.

 This is my brofur Stanley.  He really doesn't like having his picture taken so it took the old mom bean awhile to get him looking at her.

I think he was trying to tell her he wants to go out into the sunny room.  
When he came to live with us, he was really skinny.  He had been spending most of his time outside and didn't get fed furry often.  Now he's getting round and his coat is healthy.  Stanley loved the old mom bean too, and climbed up to head butt her and get scritches.

The sticky bean is okay.  He sometimes pulls our tails but he knows he needs to be gentle.  He and Stanley play together too, the sticky pulls a toy on a string and Stanley chases it.  Me, I'm happy to watch...though as the old mom bean learned, I love to jump on whatever is moving under the blanket!

My new life as an only kitty

Hi efurrybody, it's Sheldon here today from the town of Melville. 

Things are pretty good here at my new home.  The sticky bean likes to chase me but I've found places where I can hide.

This is part of the closet in the new mom bean's room.  It's a great place to hang out 'cuz it has a window with sunshine.  Now if I can just convince the new mom bean to put a kitty bed up here I'm set. 

But it's all good as the bedroom has windows that lets in lots of sunshine so I generally nap on her our bed.  

I has my furry own cat tree too (some furriends of the old mom bean gave it to me!).  I like to sit on top of it, cuz it takes a while for the sticky bean to climb on it.  I hear him coming and I can get away.

My new mom bean gives me stinky goodness once a day and I has a bowl of dry food in the pantry.  So far, the sticky bean hasn't found that yet.  I also have my furry own water dish on the counter in the bathroom.  Efurrything has to be out of the way of that sticky bean...he's sneaky!




Speaking of sneaky, here I am hiding out under his trampoline.  The old mom bean says I better be careful.  No worries, I'll hear him coming and I'll get out of there.

Oh, and she says that Stanley has a new home too.  He got to move to a farm where he can chase mice and burds.  The new mom bean was a bit sad about that, but since he's an outside kitty it makes more sense.  So far, I'm okay with being an only kitty.  I get lots of lap time with the new mom bean, I got lots of sunny places to nap in, and I don't have to share the stinky goodness. Yep, life is good!

It's back!!

Hi efurrybody, Saku here today.

Nope, I'm not talking about Sheldon...did you think I might be?  

It's the cat tree, back in the window in the noisy box room!  It has spent the last several months in the sunny room.  But now that the sunny room isn't furry sunny or warm, mom bean moved it back where I wanted it to be.  

There has been a whole lot of noise around here the last couple of days with the mom bean moving lots of stuff around, using the sucking masheen (even on the cat tree!), and splashing waters on the floor.  Do you know she gets mad at me when I do that?  Who can understand these beans?

Anyway, it's an easy Sunday here, with lots of lounging and napping to be done.  Sheldon got his easy on earlier this week; mom bean says I have to share this photo of him in his new place. Appawently the stairs are a great place to take a nap.                                                                                                                                          Have a great easy Sunday efurrybody!

Sheldon's new home

Hi efurrybody, Sheldon here today reporting in from my new home.

The old mom bean and brofur brought me here yesterday.  I was such a good kitty in the car, I only sang the song of my people for a short time before I settled down and took a nap.  When I got to the new house, I was a little nervous 'cuz that sticky bean was there and he is noisy!!!  

But pretty soon I found some hiding spots.  I especially like the new mom bean's bed.  There is lots of sunshine in the room, I know I'll get lots of good naps in there.  

The new mom bean called this morning to say I'd found the litter box last night (as if I wouldn't!), and had a good supper last night of stinky goodness.  

I'm going to be an only kitty for awhile, at least until the colds are over.  Stanley decided to stay where he is, as he likes his bean Andy.  Plus the old mom bean says he wouldn't be happy being an indoor kitty all the time.  I'm kind of happy about that and I know I'll get lots of exercise as that sticky bean likes to chase me.  Luckily, I can run up and down the stairs way faster than him.

The unpacking is almost done but there are lots of empty boxes to explore, I have a box of toys that Sasha and Saku sent with me, I've found a great place to look outside, and I even got a new cat tree!  I think I might like this place.

*The cat tree was given to us by Friday night dinner friends.  It's similar to the one here, but a different color.  I'm sure Sheldon and Eli will have fun playing on it. :)

Reprieve

Hi efurrybody, Sasha here today.   

I am napping on the mom's chair under her tippy tap machine. It's nice and warm and best of all, the sticky bean is napping too!  But not near me.  I like that a lot 'cuz I'm not a fan of that little bean.  He's loud and likes to chase me.

He also likes to chase Sheldon too.  I'm okay with that and Sheldon doesn't seem to mind as much as I do.  

Mom bean says that Sheldon will be moving with the sticky bean and the bean sisfur soon.  But she's convinced the sisfur that maybe Sheldon* should stay here until most of the unpacking is done.  Don't tell her but I think mom bean is going to miss that silly kitten.

Time for me to finish my nap before that sticky bean wakes up. Then it will be time to hide and find another place to nap.

Sunshine on my/our furs

Makes us happy!  

Hi efurrybody, we're all here today.  Even the mom bean!* It's nice and sunny in our sun room.  AND warm too!  

 Saku: I'm hanging out under the chair.  Mom bean says the sticky bean and our bean sisfur are away for a few days but I'm not taking any chances!

 Sasha:  I purrfer full on sunshine.  I am 18.3333333.... years old you know.  These old bones need some heat. 

If the sticky bean does show up I'll run.

Sheldon:  I is being camera shy.  Mom bean had to chase me around the sun room until I hid under the love seat.  Even then I didn't make it easy for her, MOL!

Thanks to all our furriends for the good wishes about my move. Mom bean says the other mom bean (sisfur) has been reading about introducing kitties to each other.  She's made some plans to give us each some space of our own for the first while. Paws crossed we behave ourselves.

Kitty worries

Hi efurrybody, Sheldon here today!  `

Do I look a bit worried in this picture?  I am, just a bit 'cuz the sticky bean followed mom bean down the stairs.  That kid sure can ruin a good nap.

I'm hanging out on my other mom bean's furrniture.  I has another bit of a worry, 'cuz I just found out that I'm going to be moving too!

That's right, I is going to leave this house and go to another one with the other mom bean and the sticky bean and a cat named Stanley.  I don't really 'member him but appawently we lived together when I was just a little kitten.  Mom bean says he wasn't furry nice to me then but she thinks that now I'm bigger I'll hold my own.  Well, I sure don't want to hold his...whatever!

The other mom bean says she will keep us separated for a while, one of us stays in her sleeping room, while the other has the run of the house and efurry day we'll switch.  She figures since neither of us "owns" the house yet we'll eventually come to tolerate each other.

I know I is going to miss Saku and Sasha.  Saku is fun to torment play with and Sasha is the best napping buddy a kitty could want.  Mom bean says she hopes someday Sheldon and I will become good furriends too.  I sure hopes so too!

No time to worry now ...it's time for my Sunday nap!  Have a good one efurrybody!
