Getting on our easy

Hi efurrybody, it's Sasha here today.  It's a warm day out in our sunny room...so warm that I am resting on the carpet instead of on the chair.

Mom bean says I would live out there if I could.  I would too, but only if the little sticky bean didn't come out there!

Hi efurrybody, Saku here.  Mom bean said I could take over the blog from Sasha to tell you something pawsome!

Our Sasha had his birthday this past week and he is 18 years old.  I'm just 10 and that seems furry old to me.  But he is still furry healthy, will yell at the mom bean to give us the stinky goodness, (and gets seconds too!), and he even plays with a special toy sometimes.  He is the kitty that efurry kitty who has lived here lubbed.  I guess his pawtience with all of us is part of the reason he has lived so long.

Have a great week efurrybody!

Happy Boxing Day!

So Santa Paws made it here after all!

After a long winter's nap (with touching!) we all woke up to find these.
It's a little hard to tell, but there is a new wand toy with fevvers, a squeaky mouse, and a nip worm.  We all like them furry much!

Even with three toys, the fight was on.  It was short-lived though as the mom bean hollered at Saku and Sheldon to cut.it.out.

Okay, mom...we'll share.  At least while you are watching. :p

And check this out, Saku got a new box too, just in time for Boxing Day!  That sticky bean broke his other one (he liked to flip it over and sit on it...silly bean).  Mom bean got him that thing in the background...maybe he'll learn to sit on it instead.

We hope all of our furriends had a wonderful Christmouse and a Happy Boxing Day too.

Sami, forever loved, always remembered

It is mom bean here again.  I've taken over the blog to share some of my favorite memories and stories of my beautiful girl Sami.  I'm sure Sasha, Saku and Sheldon will forgive me.....so long as I remember to feed them.

Sami came to us in August 2002 from the Regina Humane Society.  We had two cats at the time, Sasha and Silver, and my children convinced me we needed a third. (Don't ask me how....they just did).  When we went to the shelter I was adamant, we were going to get an older cat because kittens get adopted more quickly.  Ha!

We'll just take a peek into the kitten room they said.  We walked in and this little sprite of a kitten (about 6-7 weeks old according to the card) made it very clear she wanted our attention.  She jumped up and down, climbed the bars of the cage, and chirped eagerly.  We laughed because she reminded us of the Baby Sinclair of the Dinosaurs (a television program the kids loved), "I'm the baby, gotta love me".

So we did.  And from that moment on this little girl had hold of my heart.  We brought her home to meet her older fur-sibs.  Sasha was tolerant (as he is with all kittens) and Silver hated her.  But they came to have an understanding.  As long as Sami was on the other side of Sasha, all was well.  Once Silver ran to the bridge Sami was happy to have Sasha to herself, and he was always her favorite...though the feeling wasn't always mutual.

Later when Shady and Silas came home, Sami became their mother.  She bathed and disciplined them even when they quickly out-sized her.

Silas is the big orange tabby, his sister Shady is behind him, with wee Sami to their left.

Sami was always a little cat, she'd been found eating garbage in a bin (I assume someone tossed her) and I think that may have stunted her growth.  As the years passed, she became more rotund.  I always laughed and said it was pretty obvious she was my cat, short and round just like me.

She was our Walmart greeter.  There wasn't a person who came into the house that Sami didn't like.  However, when it came to the cats, she definitely ruled the roost.  Both Saku, and now Sheldon met the wrath of the paw of Sami and both learned to give her a wide berth.

Sami was my cat or rather I was her bean.   Early mornings would find her perched on my shoulder (I sleep on my side), waiting and watching for any signs of wakefulness.  If that didn't work, she'd reach out a paw and touch my face gently.  AND if that didn't work, a claw would be extended to touch my face.  I learned to wake up before the claw was extended too far.

Sami never met a box she didn't like.  No matter the size she found her way in.  Her favorite box came into the house two years ago at Christmas, it sat beside the television stand with a towel in it (which I did switch and wash every so often).  That box is now in the garage as I cannot bear to look at it empty in the place it once
sat.

She also loved her toys, not to play with but to bring to me.  I'd hear her peeping her way down the hallway with her kitten, a Easter chick, or a mouse in her mouth.  Sami would drop the toy at my feet and you could see the pride on her face when I praised her for bringing the toy.

Her favorite watering hole was the toilet bowl.  She'd probably hate me for sharing this photo, but it makes me laugh.

Sami could make me laugh, she could make me smile, and she was the first to comfort me if I was sad.  I think sometimes she was more in tune with my emotions than I am.

I miss her more than words can say.  I reach for where she slept on the bed in the middle of the night and she's not there.  I see one of her toys and I'm reminded I'll never hear that little chirp and trill again.  I see the fourth bowl that I no longer need to fill with food and tears fill my eyes.

Then I look at some of my favorite photos and I smile through my tears.

I am so blessed to have had fifteen years with this beautiful girl.  What I wouldn't give for just one more day.  In time I hope we are reunited.  In the meantime, I'm sure she, Silas and Shady are getting caught up...while Silver is reminding her to keep her distance.

Thank you to everyone who has left a comment in the past few days.  I take comfort knowing you understand our loss and have taken time to leave your kind words and purrs.

Surprise!

Hi efurrybody!  We're all here today checking out this new box.

Our mom bean says, in just a few days or maybe a week, a little sticky bean will be coming to live with us.  The bean sisfur was putting together this swingy chair thingy for it ...she gave us the box to play with.  It was good fun until the mom bean took it away.*

Do you suppose the little sticky bean will come in a box too?  Now that would be a great surprise.

Have a great week efurrybody!

*For some reason this box lent itself to a game of whappy paws....I thought someone might get hurt.

Keep 'em guessing!

Hi efurrybody, Saku here!

You might remember that a little while ago, I got my furry own box to sleep in.*

Here is the picture I posted then.  Some of you suggested mom bean should put a towel in it for me.  So she did.

So then I moved my toy and self to the box lid.

It's a great box 'cuz I fit in either side of it.

Mom bean decided to try one more time.

As you can see I wasn't having any part of it.
Towel, schmowel, I don't need no stinking towel.

Just so you know mom, I have no interest in a selfie either.

Have a great Sunday efurrybody!!!

*There are several cat beds around the house, but both Saku and Sami seem to prefer a box.

Cat trap Caturday

Hi efurrybody, Sami and Saku here today.

Mom bean used some green papers to get herself some new boots so we got a new box!

Sami has had her box for a whole year and she lubs it so much the mom bean put a towel in it.

I don't have a towel....yet....hey mom, get on that will ya?

By the way, does anyone know why the mom bean calls our boxes her cat traps?  Sometimes beans a pretty hard to understand!

Have a great weekend efurrybody!

Where you'll find me

Hi efurrybody, Sami here today.
We sure haven't been around much lately and it sure isn't going to get better for a while.

See the mom bean has her bags packed and you know what that means!!! Yep, we're gonna be abandoned.

She says we shouldn't worry as our bean brofur and bean sisfur will be here to take care of us.  Well, our bean brofur will....our bean sisfur doesn't like to serve us our stinky goodness or clean our kitty litters.  Appawently it turns her tummy upset.

Anyway, we'll be here but the mom bean won't.  I guess I'll hang out in my box and wait for her to come back.

Hope to see you soon efurrybody!

Telling mom

Hi efurrybody, it's Sami here today!  I been telling the mom bean it's my turn to be on the blog...those brofurs of mine sure like to hog the blog!

You know what else I been telling the mom bean?  I been telling her to hurry up and open this box.  Of course I know there is a purrfectly good box just behind me, but this is a NEW box!!!

Finally!  You know what, I tried it out, and it was just a little too big for me.  Maybe I'll give it to Saku. :)

The mom bean was pretty happy after she opened to box, 'cuz all the pieces she needed were there, and she was able to put it all together by herself.  She says the new BBQ works great.  I wouldn't know, 'cuz she doesn't share with us kitties.  Hmm, maybe I have something more to tell her.

Have a great week efurrybody!

Cat trap Caturday

Hi efurrybody!  We has a pawsome new cat trap in our house the mom bean made for us.  Normally we wouldn't want a cat trap but this one is a lot of fun.

All you needs is a box big enough for at least one kitty, some crinkly brown paper, and a few toys.

It doesn't look like much but it really, really works!

Sasha:  I was in the box playing with the paper when the mom bean showed up with the flashy box.

I really don't feel like having my picture taken so I'm out of here.

Sami:  If you're not gonna play, I will.  But only if the mom bean takes that flashy box away.*

*They simply will not let me take a photo while they're wrestling with a toy or bunny kicking the paper.  The click of the on button is enough to stop them.  You'll have to use your imagination. ;)

Have a safe Halloween efurrybody!

Easy Sunday

Hi efurrybody, Sami here!

I was getting my easy on when the mom bean showed up with the flashy box.  Can you tell I is getting up to help her get the purrfect shots?
Saku is enjoying his box in the sunny room.

Do you see what it says on the side of the box?  Mr. Noodles....yep that's a good description of my pesky brofur!

Sasha is hanging out on his favorite chair.

We woked him up when we came in the sun room so he looks a little surprised.  He's looking at me 'cuz I'm sitting on the coffee table.  I bet he wants me to come cuddle with him.

Yep, I bet that's exactly what he wants...

Have a great easy Sunday efurrybody!

Happy Caturday

Hi efurrybody, Sami here!

Guess what, guess what?

Mom bean brought home a new fountain for us kitties so  I got a new box!!!

It fits me purrfectly!

AND it doesn't fit Saku at all.  Not that he hasn't tried, MOL

Since I get the box I'll let Saku show you the new fountain.

It's pretty pawsome!  Saku and I both like but Sasha is a little afraid of it.

After all this excitement I'm going to take a nap.  Have a Happy Caturday efurrbody!

Lazy Caturday

Hi efurrybody, Saku here.

We's having a lazy Caturday here.  The other kitties are napping in the sunny room, while I hang out in my other box.*

The sun is being lazy too, sometimes it shines, sometimes it doesn't

And seriously, mom bean could you not move a little to your right to get a better picture of me?

Ahh that's a little better, now get away with that flashy box, you're interrupting my nap.

Have a great Caturday efurrybody!

*After a big stretch, Saku has blown out the end of this box.

Let the pawty begin!

The mom bean has left us, abandoned us to the care of the bean brofur, who may or may not get up before noon no matter how long we stand at his bedroom door and call.

She says she'll be back in two weeks, but in the meantime there is no tippy tapping for us.  Seriously, furriends we is going to be so lonesome without you.

Sooo...let the house-trashing party begin!

We'll make sure the new furrniture matches to old stuff.

We'll throw confetti around...even if we has to make it ourselves.

Sasha will do his best crazypants impression.
We'll make sure we play with efurry toy...

And we won't pick them up so the mom bean can step on them when she gets home.
We'll use efurry box we can find a hidey place.  (And whap anyone who walks by)
Sami will really, really, really enjoy the nip!
Saku will jump for joy knowing he won't get squirted by the water bottle for doing something naughty!
Furriends, you is invited to come on over and help us make a mess join the pawty!

We'll be watching for you.

See you soon!
