TBT - Last cat

Saku was the sixth kitty to join the clowder.  

He was born in a little town hours away from here, outdoors, in the middle of March 2010.  Our bean sisfur was his first mom bean, but she couldn't keep him, so he came to live with the rest of us about 6 weeks later.  (That's we don't have any really little kitten pictures of him) 

He immediately was named the "pest" by the rest of the kitties.  AND he made the mom bean say ...no more!  

Silas and Saku loved to play together,  and while Silas was gentle with his little brofur, the same can't be said about Saku.  

Saku has always been an explorer, always curious, and surprisingly sensitive.  At first he wasn't a big fan of the mom bean, but as he's gotten older, he likes to spend lots of time in her lap.  He enjoys napping in the sun-puddles on her our bed or in the evening in a cat bed in the basement near the bean brofur.  

Of course, he's a big helper too!  Though mom bean doesn't always think so. Especially when he runs off with a ball of her yarn.  MOL

TBT - first cat

Among the old photos, mom bean found this one of Sasha when he was a furry little kitten.

Sasha came to live with mom bean and our bean sibs in July, 2000.  They had moved into our old house and decided it was time to bring a pet into the house.  Little did they know that nearly 19 years later, he'd still be here.  (I'm very happy that he is! - Mom)

As most of you know, Sasha is the elder statesman of the family. He has put up helped with all of the kittens who came later.  He was best friends with Silver.  Sami adored him, and he was pawtient with Shady, Silas, and Saku too.  He wasn't a big fan of Sheldon, but tolerated the kid while he was here.

These days he spends most of his time sleeping.  When not napping he is reminding the mom bean that it is dinner time, or letting her know he wants out in the sun room.  This photo was taken yesterday when the sun warmed up the room just enough for a quick visit.  Even mom bean came out and sat on the steps for a bit.  

Oh, and last night Sasha scared the daylights out of the mom bean.  She was just about asleep when she felt something on her face and just about jumped out of her skin because she thought it was a spider.  Then she realized it was Sasha's whiskers!  He was giving her butterfly kisses to let her know he wanted her spot on the bed.  Of course she moved over!

Merry Christmouse Eve!

Hi efurrybody, Saku and Sheldon here today.

Mom bean says sometimes she isn't sure where one of us begins and the other ends.  BTW, that's Sheldon on the left.

We're prepping for Santa Paws arrival by having a morning nap.  This will be followed by an afternoon nap, an evening nap, and then a good night's sleep.  There will be a bit of zoomies in between and some noshing too, of course.

We still haven't seen any pressies from Santa Paws but the mom bean got an early gift from furriends of ours. 

It's a shower kitten...curtain!  She got it early 'cuz her furriend said she needed a smile this week.  It sure makes her smile.

What you cannot see is the Sheldon kitten hiding behind the curtain.  Mom bean tried to convince him to poke his head out for a picture but he wouldn't do it.

On a more pawsitive note

Hi efurrybody, it's Sheldon here today!  I gotta say this place is a pretty good place to be.

I'm having so much fun with my brofurs, the fuds are nummy, and the mom bean says I has enuf energy to power the whole city.

There is lots of toys to play with and this mousey is my favorite.  No actually it's the string that comes with the mousey efurrywhere.  Or wait a minute maybe it is the mousey.  I can't decide!

I lub to wrestle with my brofur Saku.  He might be bigger than me, but I'm mightier....sometimes.  

My other brofur Sasha still doesn't like me much.  But if I am furry, furry quiet sometimes he even lets me snuggle up and sleep with him.
Mom bean says I don't know a good thing when I see it, cuz I almost always wake up and put the bitey on Sasha.  He doesn't like that at all!

I likes hanging out with the mom bean too.  I watch over her shoulder when she plays on the tippy tap masheen.  Sometimes I even help her.  :)

And sometimes I put the bitey on her too.  She says her arms look like pincushions....whatever those are.

Mom bean says this is her favorite photo of me so far.  I was so fast asleep I didn't even hear the flashy box.  She says I have two speeds, go and stop.  

Mom bean also says to tell you I'm going to get tutored later this week at the stabby place.  It doesn't sound like much fun to me, so if you can spare some purrs we'd all appawciate it.

Time for a nap in the sunny room!  Have a great weekend efurrybody.

Takeover Caturday!

Hi efurrybody!  I'm Sheldon and that G'ma bean said I could talk to you today.  

I'm really liking it here....well, most of the time.  I like to hang out with Sasha and Sami in the sunny room or the G'ma bean's room.

But I really lub it when the beans put the Saku in the sunny room....he really, really, really doesn't like me and I'm scared of him.....because then I get to run and play.  

I lub the tree, cat television, drinking from the water fountain, and stealing from the other kitties' food bowls.  I lub playing with all the kitty toys and running all over the house.  

I don't like having to stay in my mom bean's room all alone.  Even though I have toys and food and water, I cry lots until I get out or get tired.  

But G'ma bean says it is getting near time for me to move to another house with my mom and the sticky bean.  

She says I'm great fun, but a bit of a pest.  Saku says he agrees!  Oh, oh is that him coming now?
I'd better go check and see.

Seriously Sunday

Hi efurrybody!  We're all in a bit of a snit here.  Can you guess why?

Well, first of all came this....

The sticky bean showed up with our bean sisfur.  Mom bean says he's gonna stay for awhile.  That might be okay but he makes lots of noises we're not used to and he's starting to move around.  We're just a little worried he might try to touch us!

AND then came this....

What the heck is that do you ask?  Well, it's in our cat tree and
it's watching OUR cat television.

And it's playing with our toys and hanging out with our bean brofur and our mom too!  

Mom bean says it's his name is Sheldon and she's promised he won't stay furry long.  Just 'til the bean sisfur and sticky bean find their own place.

Seriously, we sure hope so.

Thankful Thursday

Hi efurrybody, 

We've had some furry bad weather here in Saskatchewan this week.  There has been lots of snow and winds gusting up to 90 km/hr (55 mi/hr) and very cold temperatures.  We're furry thankful to be inside kitties, even if we can't use our sunny room.

But this little kitty wasn't as lucky as us.  

He was on a highway and narrowly missed being run over by a police car.  


Mom bean read us the article and it said:

"The snow-covered object was identified as a small, fluffy orange kitten.

The officers believe the furry feline had been taking shelter under or inside a vehicle before finding its way out on to the road and exposed to the elements."

"He wasn't moving very much, but was meowing non-stop," a post on the RCMP's website read.

Const. O took the kitten to the vet where it was treated. Const. C checked in on the cuddly creature later on to find it alive, well and meowing once more."

We're so thankful the little kitten was found.  We have a question though, since he was found by the police, do you suppose he might be named Copper?  

Pee Ess:  We haven't been able to visit much lately, but mom bean promises we'll be around soon as she is going to take a couple of days off soon.

Almost Wordless Wednesday

Guess who came for a visit?  We are happy to report he* only spent one night and has now gone home.

*He is Stanley, my daughter's cat.  He's a very energetic and vocal kitten especially at 4 a.m.  I'm kind of glad he's gone home too. :)
