Purrs Please

Any and all purrs and pawsitive thoughts would be appreciated today.

Mom bean here.  Sami hasn't been feeling well for a couple of weeks.  I found a couple of her teeth in my bed one morning and since then she starting eating less.  The last few days have been troubling as her appetite has decreased further, her right eye waters, she's frequently sneezing and one side of her mouth appears to be swollen.

Today, she's hasn't eaten at all and until a couple of minutes ago, hadn't had anything to drink.  She's been sleeping most of the morning.

We have an appointment at the vet in about an hour.  I'm praying that whatever is going on, can be readily fixed but am mentally preparing myself for the worst.

She's on my lap at the moment, as if she knows she's the focus of this post.  I'll be giving her lots of love before we head out in the car.  I'll post an update later today or tomorrow.

Update:
Unfortunately my worst fears were realized.  Upon examination, the vet found a large invasive tumour that nearly filled Sami's mouth cavity.  We discussed potential surgeries and palliative care (which would have required pilling), but ultimately I decided I could not put Sami through more suffering and pain.

With a heavy heart, and many tears I said good-bye to my sweet girl.  She went quietly and peacefully; I truly believe she knew it was her time.  Sami has joined her fursibs Silver, Shady, and Silas at the Rainbow Bridge.  I am grateful that she is no longer in pain, and I know the pain I feel today will be tempered in time.

Sami, you are and always will be part of my heart.

Saying goodbye to a furriend

Hi efurrybody.

We are here with some sad news today as our furriend Alti went to the Bridge today.  She is the kitty of our mom bean's good work friend C.

Mom bean tried to find a picture of a kitty that looked like Alti, but the best she could find was this image.

As you can see Alti was a tuxie girl.  She was little and round (until recently) and a sassy girl.  She had two older fursibs, both also tuxies who went before her.  They didn't care much for her so she was furry much attached to her mom bean.

Alti was over 18 years old and had been on thyroid medicines for a year or so.  She had to go to the ebil v e t office often, and when she did she sang the song of her people furry loudly.  She kept it up all the way there and all the way home.  One day her dad bean called our mom bean and let her listen to Alti sing as he drove her home. She could really carry a tune!

There was even a special note in the v e t file so that the techs knew to be wary of her.  Alti was known to be a bit nasty, she even bit one of the techs so bad, the bean was off work for a few days while the wound healed.

She was an awesome kitty, little and tough, and sweet to her beans.  Alti will be missed so much.  If you can spare some purrs for her mom and dad bean today it would be appawciated as they are heartbroken.

Fly free, Alti.

Thankful Thursday - Bruce Almighty on the mend

Mom bean here again to share with everyone the latest update on Bruce Almighty.

It’s been a week of continued healing for Bruce Almighty! His bandage changes and hydrotherapy continue to be done by the RHS Veterinary team every few days. The healing of his wounds on his front paws is going incredible well and his newly unwrapped back leg is looking near normal.
Bruce Almighty is feeling much stronger and is happiest when he is near people. He’s able to walk short distances with his front bandages and now spends his weekdays in staff offices and the weekends at home with his foster family. He’s a very eager talker and is always willing to roll over for a belly rub and ear scratches. He absolutely adores sitting on a warm lap and will stand up on his back legs and ask to be picked up knowing cuddles await him on the lap of his choice.
He’s also very good at telling us what he doesn't like! That includes being held or carried and being in his kennel too long. He’s been known to use his front paws to bang on the kennel doors to let RHS staff know he’s ready to come out and visit.
We simply adore his personality and it’s clear to us that Bruce Almighty will have no problems adjusting to pampered house cat status when he’s fully healed. We continue to receive so many kind messages of concern and caring for Bruce Almighty and want to share his and our thanks. At one point his future was so uncertain but he continues to defy the odds thanks to so many of you!

It's so wonderful to read how well he is doing.  I suspect there will be a long list of prospective parents waiting for the day he is ready for adoption. (It won't be me...Saku would never tolerate another kitty in the house!)
