Friday Not so Funny

Hi everyone, it's the mom bean.  I'm taking over the blog for brief moment to say I found this photo and initially thought it was funny.

But it also reminds me of a time when Sasha was just a tiny kitten.  We had old fashioned vertical blinds on the patio doors leading out to the deck.  Somehow he managed to get tangled up in the strings, with one paw wrapped tightly.  My son, who was a little boy at the time, tried desperately to rescue his kitty and when he couldn't he called me at work crying.  I drove home as quickly as I could and untangled poor little Sasha.  Thankfully he didn't suffer any lasting effects and we tied up every string we could to keep it away from Sasha and the kitties that followed him.

So this is a bit of a warning, it might be fun to climb but be careful!  Sasha, Sami, and Saku say: Your mom and dad beans lub you all and want you to be safe.  See you soon!

  1. That's good advice. One never knows with cats and children what mischief they can cause themselves. Better safe than sorry.

  2. That is really a good warning. We have blinds and have strings up so that my boys can't reach them. We try every effort for safety, but kitties still manage to put themselves into trouble. Glad Sasha was OK after getting tanbled in the strings!

  3. Para gatos e crianças todo o cuidado é pouco, sua história com Sasha é um bom exemplo de como o improvável pode acontecer.
Tenham um ótimo fim de semana!

  4. Yeah, some of the "funny" cat (or other animal) pics out there don't look so funny to me, either.

I remember coming home from school one day, calling out to my pony Jessica. She was tethered at the back of our property behind the garden, out of sight, and she didn't respond. My 12 or 213-year old heart dropped because I knew instinctively something was wrong. I rushed back, only to find the tether (chain) all wound around the stake; she didn't even have an inch of movement at her halter. I freed her and I know that Dad must have remedied the situation, though I don't remember what he did. But it's pretty easy for things you wouldn't even think of to happen, causing dire results.

  5. 12 or 13-year old heart. Some days I might feel like 213, but I'm pretty sure I didn't feel that old at that time of my life. :-)
